National Rugby League

Anthony Lo Surdo SC has been appointed by the National Rugby League (NRL) to the office of Judiciary Counsel.

The role of Judiciary Counsel is to:

(a) appear at the hearing of any charge brought against a Player in the NRL Judiciary and to present the evidence relied upon to support the charge, test the defence case and make any appropriate submissions; and

(b) appear before the NRL Appeals Committee at the hearing of any appeal brought by a Player and make appropriate submissions.

In discharging those duties, Judiciary Counsel is required to act independently, impartially and fairly without fear or favour, affection or ill-will and must be aware of, and proceed with due respect for, the necessity to preserve the independence of the Judiciary and its constituents and the NRL Appeals Committee and its constituents.
